Hi Reader,

There are people who come into our lives and remind us what’s possible.

And there are those who add wind to our sails, helping us move in the right direction.

I met one of those people this past week on retreat, and I wanted to share her with you.

Her name is Dr. Laura del Valle. She grew up between Mexico and the U.S., and she is the founder of Mar de Jade, the retreat center in Chacala, Mexico, where I just finished hosting a week-long retreat.

The retreat was truly magical. I’m so grateful to each and every participant who said yes and stepped into the experience. We had a remarkable week, learning, growing, playing, and connecting, all while being held by the warm tropical elements that make Mar de Jade so special.

One evening, I had the chance to hear Dr. Laura’s story. As a medical doctor for more than 40 years, she has been caring for her local rural community through a clinic she built from the ground up. Early on, she began hosting medical students from UCSF to work alongside her in the clinic. As they stayed onsite, the seed of what would become Mar de Jade began to grow.

From there, she expanded her vision, creating opportunities for young people in the community by teaching job skills, offering meaningful work, and helping them build lives rooted in purpose and possibility.

The retreat center itself was born from that vision. It’s not only a beautiful container for retreats, but also a place of learning and livelihood, supported by a 17-acre organic farm, commercial kitchens, and a community of young people learning skills like cooking, farming, woodworking, sewing, plumbing, and more.

A few nights later, I had the chance to spend more time with her. We had a wonderful conversation, she was curious about my work, and deeply encouraging. And then, the best part, we danced salsa together to incredible live music. (I even took a salsa class that afternoon, so I had a few moves ready.)

The entire week, including meeting her, added wind to my sails.

And that’s the ripple effect: one person living their purpose, and the way that energy touches everyone around them. Hosting this retreat truly felt like a leap of faith for me, and I came home deeply nourished by the experience.

All of this is to say, I’ve booked Mar de Jade again for next year.
January 2–9, 2027.

Another retreat. Same incredible place. And I couldn’t feel more certain.

We’ll move our bodies daily, dive into my core teachings around nutrition, Ayurveda, and circadian habits, to support you in aging with grace and confidence, and we’ll also swim, watch sunsets and whales, hike, explore town, and enjoy three delicious organic meals each day. It’s deeply nourishing in every way.

Space will be limited, but I’ve created a page where you can read more about it and reserve your spot with a deposit.
