I’m sure you’ve noticed that the USDA food guidelines have recently been updated.

Just a few years ago, there was a very real debate in Congress about whether pizza could be counted as a vegetable in school lunch programs, simply because the tomato paste on it technically qualified as a vegetable serving. While no one was claiming pizza was a vegetable, the policy outcome allowed it to meet vegetable requirements, which says a lot about how far removed guidelines had become from real, whole food nourishment.

So yes, the guidelines have changed, and I took the time to look beyond the new image and actually read the recommendations themselves.

Are they perfect? No.

But they’re moving in a better direction. They emphasize more whole foods, real ingredients, and foods our bodies actually recognize and know how to use.

As the saying goes, “progress, not perfection”.

That said, I know how confusing it can feel out there. Between wellness trends, supplements, powders, bars, books, and an endless stream of voices telling you what to eat and what to avoid, it’s a lot.

And while I’ve been working in nutrition for over 17 years, what’s always mattered most to me is staying grounded as those trends come and go. Rather than chasing the latest fad, my work has consistently centered on whole foods, Ayurvedic wisdom, therapeutic nourishment, and sustainable habits that help the body return to balance, physically, metabolically, and energetically.

Which brings me to what’s next.

I’m opening the doors to the next round of Blood Sugar Reset Bootcamp, starting February 16th. This is a supportive, structured experience designed to help you cut through the noise, reconnect with your body’s signals, and build a foundation that truly supports your health, now and for the long run.

It’s my signature program, one I’ve been running and refining for years, and it was just fully updated. Most importantly, it works for those who are ready to step in and engage with the process.
